28 Feb Strength and Dignity Easel Card
I’m excited about today’s card for several reasons: 1) I used one of my favorite stamps from Iris-Inspired Stamps; 2) I used an image created by one of my favorite artists, Robert Jackson and 3) I liked the look of the finished card.
I decided on an easel card because I wanted the recipient of the card to be able to set it on a desk or table if they desired. I used an image created by Robert Jackson, who creates beautiful African-American digital stamp images. He granted me permission to turn a few of his digital stamp images, including this one, called Ebony into a photopolymer stamp which is available at Iris-Inspired Stamps as part of the Natural Beauty stamp set. I love this image so much because she looks beautiful and natural, and I absolutely love her braids.
I stamped the image on Spectrum Noir paper using my MISTI so I could stamp it again after it was colored. I colored it with my Copic Markers and will list the colors I used below. Once I colored the image I stamped it again with Onyx Black, Versafine Ink and embossed it with Judikins, Clear Detail embossing powder. Then I used a Quickie Glue Pen and Silver, Art Glitter on her earring to coordinate with the background paper.
I used one of the diecuts from the Stained-Glass Border Ovals set by Gina Marie Designs and diecut a rectangular piece of Onyx, Stardream Metallic 81-lb card stock. Using the same diecut, I cut it from silver glitter paper and then again from pink glitter paper and filled in the stain-glass area around the oval. Using the Spellbinders, Classic Oval diecut I cut out the image and mounted it to the middle of the stain-glass oval.
I found a piece of floral glitter paper in my stash and unfortunately, I don’t remember its name or where I got it from so I will not be able to get another piece. Instead of making a mat like I normally would, I decided to hide the corners of the front panel in the glitter mat paper by cutting op
enings in the glitter paper at each corner.
The card front sentiment is from Rubbernecker Stamps and is a scripture, Proverbs 31:25. The inside stopper sentiment is from the Iris-Inspired Stamps, Woman Of God Set. I stamped it onto white cardstock with Onyx Black, Versafine Ink and embossed it with Judkins, Clear Detail embossing powder. Then I diecut it using the Spellbinders, Labels 1 and matted it onto a piece of Onyx, Stardream Metallic 81-lb text cardstock that I reinforced with Hammermill cover cardstock underneath. I cut out the black mat using the Spellbinders, Labels 22 Set. Then I mounted the completed stopper onto the inside of the card using foam dimensionals.
The final views of the card are below:
That’s it for now. Until next time:
Stamp Yourself Happy!
