03 May Sax Birthday Card
It is that time of year again when those in my inner circle celebrate my Big Brother Bill. As you guys already know, I celebrate him with seven birthday cards every year, and he is to open one a day leading up to his Birthday. I was cutting it close this year because I couldn’t come up with card designs early on, but I finally found my creativity and got the job done. I hope he likes them. Over the next week or so I will reveal the cards to you as he opens them, so I don’t ruin the surprise for him because, of course, he follows my Blog.
Once the ideas started flowing, I had fun designing and executing the cards. Some were more challenging than others and I even elicited the opinion of my 87yo father on what colors looked best on a couple of the cards. He was thrilled to assist.
Today’s card is a Saxophone diecut card. My brother plays the saxophone, so I decided to use this Saxophone SVG created by MagicVectorLaser which I purchased on Etsy. It has four layers which I cut out using my Silhouette Cameo 4. I kept all the layers in the gold color family but used foil paper and glitter paper for some of the layers to give it some realistic variation.
Once all layers were cut I glued them together and mount the completed Saxophone to the front of a 5X7 Card base creating using Sapphire Stardeam Metallic 105lb cover cardstock. I also cut out some musical note accessories to add to the card so it wouldn’t look so sparse. For the front sentiment I used the Happy Birthday (3487 F) stamp from Judikins. For the inside sentiment I used a birthday sentiment stamp from the Iris-Inspired Stamps, Birthday Set.

Although I loved the Saxophone diecut on this card I wasn’t happy with the overall card design. It’s definitely my least favorite of the seven and it was the first one I completed and as mentioned my creativity was not flowing when I started. I thought I would redo it after all the others were finished but I ran out of time, so it stayed as is. Word is he liked it and that is what matters most.
So, that does it for Birthday Card #1, only six more to reveal.
Until Next Time,
Stamp Yourself Happy!
