13 Jun Cooking Themed Easel Card
One of my favorite things to do is reminisce with my Big Brother. We’ve had some really good times over the years. And I especially like to remember times when my mother was alive.
In that spirit, I made him a card with a cooking theme so I could count down the Top Ten favorite foods he’s fixed for me. There are many delicious meals to choose from over the years. He’s an excellent cook. I wrote up a little blurb of my memories about each meal that made the cut: where we were, who else was there, etc. to include in the card.
I made a 6X6 easel card and wanted the card front to look like a kitchen. I used my Taylored Expressions, Brick embossing folder to create the background for the card front. Using a finger dauber I inked the bricks with Pumice Stone, Distress Ink to give them a more realistic appearance.
Next, I cut out kitchen utensils and containers from the Hero Arts, Kitchen Tools diecut set. I used Stampin’ Up, Baja Breeze and Cajun Craze cardstock to cut out the containers and inked both with the respective colored ink to give them a more interesting look. I thought it might be cute to have a hanging utensil rack in the background as well and used a wood grain cardstock to create it and attached it to the brick background with a foam dimensional strip.
I wanted to cover up the portion of the background where I joined the two brick embossed pieces and decided to hang one of the knives there then decided to dedicate the entire rack to knives and created four more and spaced them evenly across the background. I arranged the other kitchen tools in the containers and adhered them. Finally, I added the rolling pin and lids with foam dimensionals.
This card will house my favorite meals number six through ten and I’ll make another card for numbers
one through five. Not sure yet how I want it to look but I have a few ideas. The full card pictures are below.
Until next time:
