14 Apr Happy Doctor’s Day!
March 31st was Doctor’s Day! It’s an occasion that hardly anyone acknowledges but this year I made four cards for some friends of mine who are doctors: one Neurologist, two Family Medicine Physicians and one Endocrinologist. For the Neurologist’s card I wanted to include a brain somehow and I also wanted to include her practice name instead of title. The other physician’s cards are similar to each other except for their name on the easel stopper.
I used the image of the brain is a digital stamp that I printed onto Stampin’ Up, Smokey Slate cardstock using my laser printer. I uploaded the image to my Silhouette Cameo so I could create the card’s front panel in the shape of a brain. Next, I made a mat in purple foiled cardstock for the brain image. I then assembled the card’s front panel and worked on the other card elements.
For all the cards I used the Lil Doctor photopolymer stamp sold by Iris-Inspired Stamps. This image is one of many great images created by Fine Art by Robert Jackson. Check out his website for other digital stamps and fine art. I stamped the doctor image in Memento, Black Tuxedo ink using my MISTI and then colored it with Copic Markers. Then I stamped it again using VersaFine, Onyx Black ink and embossed it with Judikins, Black Detail embossing powder. Next, I fussy-cut the image out and mounted it to the brain stamp with adhesive foam.
For the sentiments I used the Doctor’s Day stamp set by Iris-Inspired Stamps. I stamped each with VersaFine, Onyx Black ink and embossed them as I did above. I matted them with the same purple foil cardstock and mounted them to the card front with foam adhesive as well. To create the wise saying about the brain I printed it on my laser printer and hot foiled it with gold Minc foil.
The remaining three cards were all made in much the same way in varying colors and with different easel stoppers. The four cards can be seen below.
