28 Oct Lots of HUGS!
As usual this card was inspired by my eldest brother who cherishes HUGS. He and my 87yo Dad end every day with a hug. How sweet is that.
This card’s concept was easy to create. The background was created by die-cutting the word HUGS several times using the Waffle Flower – Oversized HUGS die-cut and then gluing them in place on the background. Doing so makes the background looked dry embossed. I inked a piece of Hammermill Digital Color Copy Cover 100lb paper with a combination of Carved Pumpkin and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks primarily because orange is my brother’s favorite color.
Then I die-cut the word hugs five times and glued them together placing the inked die-cut on top. Next, I used Glossy Accents and applied two layers of dimension on top of the word HUGS. Once it was dry I applied Diamond Stickles to make the word sparkle. Next, I adhered the stacked stickled word to the cards center.
The sentiment I used on the inside was an Iris-Inspired Stamps sentiment from the Sending Hugs stamp set. The sentiment is pictured below:
Making this card was the first time I’ve used Glossy Accents, and I quite like its effects, so I’ll definitely be using it again. It’s a way to add dimension without needing to elevate a card’s element with foam dots. The fact that you can apply stickles to it to add Bling makes it even better.
Until Next Time,
Stamp Yourself Happy!
