14 Jun What’s Cooking? Apron Card
For my brother’s second cooking themed card I went with a traditional 6×6 card to give me the maximum room on the card front. I used an apron diecut set which includes miniature kitchen utensil diecuts as well.
Attempting to make the apron more masculine, before cutting it out, I stamped a plaid pattern onto plain white cardstock using the Hero Arts, Plaid background stamp. I stamped the plaid background in Stampin’ Up, Pumpkin Pie ink and used my favorite “Blingy” embossing powder, Mystic Fire from B&J’s Art Stamps. I think B&J’s is no longer in business, and I will be in a puddle of tears when I run out of Mystic Fire.
I decided to have a double matted card and stamped Stampin’ Up, Early Expresso cardstock with the same color ink using a silverware background stamp and embossed it again with Mystic Fire. I absolutely love how the background turned out. You can’t tell in the pictures but in person it really brings the “Bling“.
I didn’t have a sentiment to go along with the cooking theme, so I made some on my computer and printed them on my laser printer so I could heat foil them using Heidi Swapp, Black and Gold Minc Foil. I decorated the Apron with miniature kitchen tools and used ribbon as the apron ties before using foam dots to attach it to the card front. I was giddy it looked so cute. LOL.
I have never really been one to like making 3-D cards feeling like they may be too gimmicky. However, my brother told me that he really likes 3-D cards, and I must say having made several for him now, that I have grown fond of them myself.
Finally, I decorated the card front with the remaining kitchen tool diecuts that I cut out. I usually don’t share the inside of the cards because they are for the most part basic. None-the-less, I shared pictures of the inside of this card because I used kitchen tool diecuts inside it as well and I liked the way it turned out.
That’s it for this two-card cooking theme set. Until next time,
