28 May 90th Birthday Easel Card
Years ago, I went to a party store looking for their 85th birthday section for a party I was planning for my Grandmother. The person working there told me they didn’t have one because there wasn’t a demand for it. Since then, I’ve known several people who have reached their 90’s and beyond. I made my own decorations for my Granny’s parties after that and her 94th was the last one. Perhaps the party stores should reconsider.
I made this 90th birthday card for a woman at my church who is 90 years young. I wanted to make a classic looking elegant card that she could perhaps look at beyond her birthday. So, I settled on making an easel card with her favorite scripture on it. Her favorite color is yellow, but I didn’t have any Stardream paper in that color, so I went with yellow ribbon and Bronze & Crystal White Stardream paper because it’s a nice 105lb paper with a metallic finish.
I chose the Beaded Fanfare embossing folder by Creative Expressions, one of my favorites, to create an elegant background. I brought in her favorite color with the wide yellow satin ribbon that would go well with the Bronze Stardream paper. I diecut the “90” using my Silhouette Cameo and stacked the numbers on a Crystal Stardream diecut made with the Spellbinders, Lacy Squares diecut.
The inside of the card came about by accident. I needed a diecut that was big enough to stamp both Happy Birthday and her favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6. I settled on using a fairly new diecut that was both big enough and decorative but one I have never used before, so all the dies were still attached. When I was cutting it from the background diecut it struck me that it too would look pretty on the inside of the card with the sentiment popped up as the stopper for the easel. I used the same Bronze Stardream color but in the 80lb text paper because the background diecut was so intricate. The Frantic Stamper, Elementals #11 – Bracket Coved Label set was what I used to make the inside.
The inside sentiments were Judikins, script Happy Birthday and the Proverbs 3:5-6 scripture from Clear Dollar Stamps, which is no longer around.
That’s all for now. Until next time:
Stamp Yourself Happy!
